Bawku Sec Tech: Meningitis Kills Another Student, 5 Hospitalised

One student from the Bawku Secondary Technical School has died at the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital. Reports indicate that the cause of death is meningitis.

At least five others from the school have also been admitted at the hospital resulting from what looks like the outbreak of meningitis in the School.

XYZ News’ Upper East regional correspondent, Samuel Mbura reports that the deceased who was identified as Bukari hails from Bugri a community in the Garu Tempane district.

Dr. Clement Oppong of the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital  disclosed to Samuel that one student from Garu Tempane senior High School, moses Sule, had also been admitted and was being treated for meningitis.

Dr. Oppong however told XYZ News that the hospital has enough drugs to treat all suspected meningitis cases in the Bawku municipality.

XYZ News has also gathered that a woman who died on Tuesday at Mognori community, was also diagnosed of meningitis.
